This set includes two of my most favorite purchases from the JCA exchange- the waterfall necklace and the navy cashmere bf cardi. Lovely ladies, Kate and Dara, shout outs to you both!
Today's outfit was worn to a team luncheon I attended. In addition to my fulltime work assignment, I have several part time assignments that are on an oncall/ as needed basis. For one of those assigments, we meet monthly for training. Today was training for the 1st half of the day and team luncheon at a delicioso! Italian restaurant.
This necklace just doesn't get out enough! I actually wore a tank in place of the tee, but same color.

Winter hair and skin? Be done with it!
So, it's worth repeating over and over- I.am.not.a.cold.weather.person. The dry winter air wreaks havoc on my fair skin. Dry skin? Check. Flaking skin? Check. Crazy, staticky hair that sticks straight up? Yep, check here too!
In my never ending quest to banish my winter skin and hair blues, I've stumbled on 3 magical, yes magical! products to help my cause. Before I go into detail, I'm a product junkie, hands down. (My name's Jbird and I'm an addict...) If there was a group for product junkies, I'd be a sponsor, member and leader. I've tried it all and I have the Sephora VIB card to show for it.
First up- "It's a 10" leave in conditioner for hair. Gone are my flyaways and static cling. On a 1 to 10 scale, "It's a 20!" Yep, it's pricey, but totally worth every cent. Trust me. Find it here.
Next up- two products for winter skin. Olay Quench Body Wash has officially taken the place of my soap (except for the delicate parts). Find it here. When I get out of the shower, my skin feels smooth and soft, unlike that tight feeling you get on your skin from soap.
And lastly, Olay Quench Body Lotion. Great for moisturizing, without feeling greasy (meaning you can get dressed right away!) Find it here. As a special bonus, there's just a hint of shimmer in the lotion.
I'm hooked on these products. I tried the Olay products after a BOGO coupon appeared in the Sunday paper a few weeks ago. Olay is running a deal to try the lotion for free- mail in rebate, of course. See here.
Maybe, just maybe, the winter will be slightly more bearable this year...

Running errands in the rain...
I'm doing work errands in the rain today. We have a formal ceremony tonight that is work related, so I have to pick up the food and such.
I'm glad it isn't snowing, but we really don't need any more precipitation. The ground is so wet already.
My wellies are from JCrew- they are navy with Bassett Hounds printed on them. So cute and they keep my feet dry!

OOTD and a dentist appointment
There's not much I like less than a dentist appointment (ok, well except for snow...). I'm back to my dentist today for my permanent crown. In all honesty, he's a pretty good dentist, as far as that goes. He's personable and as gentle as he can be under the circumstances.
So, I'm working 1/2 day today, dentist appt, then off to internship for 4 more hours of work. I'm tired and counting down the days until graduation. Come on May 25th!

Homemade banana bread...yum!
Although I'm not a cold weather girl, there's something about the fall/winter that makes me want to cook and bake. With all that baking, I have to be careful about how much I eat... after all, I want to be able to get into those skinny jeans!
So, I like to experiment with lower fat, lower sugar substitutes to keep my baked goods healthier. I've come up with a good, low fat/sugar banana bread. This recipe makes one loaf. Enjoy!
2 c flour
3/4 c Splenda sugar substitute
2 eggs
3 whole bananas, ripe! and mashed
1/2 c unsweetened applesauce
2 tbsp vegetable or canola oil
1/2 c walnuts, chopped
1 tsp baking soda
dash salt
Cream eggs, Splenda, applesauce and oil together. Sift dry ingredients together, add and blend to egg mixture. Add in bananas and walnuts to moistened mixture. Bake in loaf pan at 325 degrees for 1 hour, 15 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.

Skinny jeans for curvy girls
I have wanted to get in on the skinny jeans trend, but I'm not skinny! I'm a curvy girl, pear shaped with hourglass features. Every pair of skinny jeans I've tried on have never been flattering to my curves. I checked out The Gap recently and noticed their line of "Always Skinny" jeans. (They're my go-to place for denim.) I tried the jeans on and BINGO!- a truly flattering line of skinny jeans for curvy girls. Coupled with a 30% discount card from the mail and I was sold. So, I incorporated them into my OOTD for today.
Check them out here.
I should mention- I sized up in them to avoid the sausage casing look. Plus, if they accidently get thrown in the dryer (usually by Mr. Bird) it won't be too much of a problem.

Snow? Seriously?
Although I have lived on the East Coast my entire life, I still hate snow. I am not a cold weather person and would rather be bundled up than out and about in the weather. That being said, things must get done! I intern for my graduate program every Saturday night, so Mr. Bird and I go out to lunch in the early afternoon. Here's my OOTD, and yes, I wore the JC library cardi again today. Don't judge- I am probably gonna wear it again tomorrow.

Casual day at work...
So, the start of my blog brings me to my very first OOTD post. I'll warn you up front- I'm not the most technologically savvy person. My frustration with my Crackberry has shown that!
Anywho, 99% of my time at work is spent in a uniform. Sometimes, that sucks, sometimes it doesn't. Pros: I know what I'm going to wear everyday and I have to put little thought into it. Cons: Um, it's a uniform. I have gorgeous clothes hanging in my closet, just begging to be worn. Oh, and it's a wool blend too, with high.waisted.pants. UGH.
So, today was one of the rare occasions I get to wear "civilian" (read: regular) clothes.

It's about time...
I love reading everyone's blogs so very much, I've decided it's time to start my own. I can't promise it will be interesting, or even worth reading, but I do promise to try my best!
